Thanksgiving

Max had his friends over for Thanksgiving.  I made kimchi smashed potatoes, which were great.
There's Chunghwan, Minsik, Chanel, Max, and Daeheon.

Halloween Costume: Spider and the Fly

 
This is Teresa's Spider and the Fly costume on her.  You can't see it in the picture but she's wearing purple spider tights and she has green spider barrettes in her hair.  She has almond shaped eyes and ever since she was very little, it's been hard to get a picture of her that doesn't look like she has her eyes closed.  We had a very nice Halloween and she had a lot of compliments on her costume.

Quilts: Halloween Wallhangings

 
I made these wall hangings in 2006.  I can't find the book they are from but I really like them.  The book suggested making these out of construction paper and then laminating them for fun place mats.

Quilt: Sunbonnet Sam and Sue

 
I finally finished this quilt yesterday.  I won the Sunbonnet Sam and Sue applique pieces about 5 years ago.  I sewed them onto blocks about two years ago.  I sewed the quilt top in the spring and I actually started quilting it a week ago.  I was given the fabric for the back with the Sam and Sue's several years ago and I knew it would be perfect for this quilt.  It was one piece that I broke apart into rows.  This isn't my favorite pattern so I decided I would try to improve my quilting.  Overall I liked how it turned out.

Halloween Costume: Red cell phone

I just made this for my son's friend.  I used two diaper boxes, covered them in batting and then used  red plastic table cloth to cover it all.  Silver duct tape and craft foam finished everything off. The black is actually where you will see his face.

Auction: Do not disturb signs

 
 We always have a problem at our auctions with people coming up to the data entry people and asking, "Did I win?"  I've tried different ways to block them off but there's no real good way.  So this year I'm pasting these signs onto science boards and putting them in front of the data entry people.  So hopefully they will get the hint.  We have a 60's theme this year so I thought blue meanies were appropriate.

Knitting: Octopi

 
Just finished the last octopus last night for my son.  These are from the wonderful book Amigurumi Knits patterns for 20 cute mini knits by Hansi Singh.  She has vegetables, sea creatures, insects, and more.  These octopus are really fun to do and if you want to try to knit something a little unusual, I highly recommend these.  You only work with around 25-40 stitches at a time.  If you've made socks before, these are a breeze.  If you haven't, these are a nice introduction to using double needles without having to do a big project.
